My Mission:
This project is the sum of my passion and love of the military and photography. I have always been looking for a way to give back and this is my product. I am reaching out to all Canadian Veterans from all branches of the forces and trades to help tell their stories. So far the initial response to the project has been overwhelmingly positive. I have been left speechless by how many individuals have been effected and by how many veterans have actively reached out to me to tell their story. I am truly honoured.
The concept of the Afghanistan Veteran Project will be based around collecting short stories written by veterans and their experiences or whatever they wish to share in combination with a personal portrait of the veteran.
I am interested in capturing and sharing an intimate perspective on what the war was like and help preserve the culture that is our military history of Canadians in Afghanistan. This is a document of the hardships, sacrifices, untold stories and moments of impact.
Right now this project will remain as an online database and blog where portraits and stories will be published but I see this as merely the beginning. My end state to the project is a consolidation of the stories and portraits into a book. It is a large goal and I have just begun but I am excited to see how this project will evolve and take shape.
If you know anyone that may be interested or you would like to be a part of this please do not hesitate to contact me so I can begin to compile the stories and take portraits.
